Surprise!
Bailey walking in the front door on Monday night....
Somehow my family likes to pull these kinds of startling whoppers on me. And I was totally astonished! but very pleasantly amazed. Yeah-she's home.
Home for the holiday... and all the things that hearth and home supply.
Familiar people who hug, and laugh and roll their eyes.
The same decorations that show up every year at this time- just set out in a chic new way.
The aroma of the kitchen with soup and bread. - (real food is what Bailey calls it)
The piles of mail on the counters and the ovalteen in the cupboard. The books in the basket by the fireplace and the grandparents happy to see you walk in. The yellow bedroom with a desk in the corner. All the normal, usual, standard ordinary things- that bring back Home.
Cheerful smiles all the way around.
Very happy to have my entire family come home...all of them.
- The dancing, drooling, laughing, cooking, jazz loving ones that live 20 minutes a way.
The ones who live for a mountain adrenaline rush, game playing and drive on I-15 to get here.
The ones that live 4 blocks away with pies, adventures, homework and monday night hawaii on their minds.
And the one who lives in Cedar City - who loves new friends, texting, her marketing class and surprising her mother.
Welcome home--
anytime.
Love you.

This is an amazing time in your lives, Alyson and Spence. One of the phases people talk about. You are very lucky that all of the kids are close enough to visit, but your home has always been so cosy that no matter where they are in the future and today, they will always turn toward Morning Star Drive in their moments of reverie. You've done a good job.
It may surprise you to know that I keep the invitation to Brynn's wedding by my telephone because it is just so cheerful, the colors of spring and the memories of the wedding. Happy weekend!
